Common indications:
– open and closed fractures of distal radius,
– metaphyseal fractures, and shaft fractures of the radius,
– proximal, shaft, and distal fractures of ulna,
– other dislocations and fractures in the carpal region requiring immobilization with or without mild distraction.
NOTE:
Mitkovic external fixator for forearm / wrist is available with two lengths of the rod, where the shorter rod is used for fractures where spanning the joint is not required, as two pins are inserted in distal radius near the joint and two through the radial diaphysis. Schanz pins of 4 mm are used. The system most commonly includes the Schanz pins of 70 and 80 mm in length. Other lengths (60–130 mm) are also available, and custom lengths can be manufactured upon request.
